One of my favorite places on the Western Black Sea route with the caravan that lasted for about 15 days was Eğriova Pond. If you want to camp in the heart of nature in the Yenice Forests in Karabük, you can stay at Eğriova Pond for free. Eğriova Pond camping area is very suitable for both tent camps and caravan camps. If you want to see the pond and its surroundings, be sure to watch the video below.
Where is Eğriova Pond Campground?
Eğriova Pond is an artificial pond located approximately 24 km from the center of Karabük and stands out with its natural beauties. It is also just a few kilometers away from Keltepe, which is the highest peak of the Western Black Sea with an altitude of 1999 meters. It is also very close to plateaus such as Sorgun Plateau and Belen Plateau. You can reach Eğriova Pond in 5-10 minutes by taking a dirt road on the right 1 km before Keltepe.
When we went to Keltepe, the ski center was just being built. Thanks to the ski center, most of the road leading to the pond was paved. The dirt road, that is, the last 5 kilometers can be challenging for passenger cars in rainy weather, but other than that, transportation is quite comfortable.
What's in Eğriova Pond?
Eğriova Pond is a very quiet and calm place and very convenient for relaxing. But there are no facilities here and no phone reception. When you come to camp, you have to provide all your needs in advance and you should be willing to say goodbye to your smartphone for a few days.
In addition to the camp, you can also do different activities in Eğriova Pond. The pond is located very close to Keltepe, Sorgun Plateau and Belen Plateau, and there are hiking routes to these plateaus. In other words, the region is also very suitable for those who enjoy hiking.
Eğriova Pond camping area is a very suitable place for both tent camps and caravan camps. Since there are walking routes in the region, you can explore the surroundings by taking daily walks. If you happen to be in Karabük, I recommend you to stop by this beautiful pond located in the heart of Yenice Forests.
