Kimisene Ancient City

It is located in the borders of Eskipazar district of Karabuk province. Kimistene, which has statue bases of Emperor Caracalla (211-217) and Diacletianus (284-305), temples and inscriptions related to Zeus Kiminsteros, Demeter, Artenis Kratione Hermes masses, and tomb inscriptions, was an important settlement during the Roman Empire. Among the inscriptions were found inscriptions that the people of Kimistene worked as miners in Romania. The natives of Kimistene settled on the shores of Amasra and Bartın by coming from the Dalmatian coast. Deresemail, Hanköy and Bayındır are ancient settlements. Inscriptions written in Latin and Ancient Greek, various depictions and sculptures written on stones were found.
